I am a thirty-seven year old female and I have been training with Ira Baldwin for over two years and the benefits to my physical and emotional well-being have been immeasurable.  I was not an athlete as a younger person, so “loving the burn” is all new to me.  Ira has been patient and flexible, continuously modifying workouts to meet my needs, which have varied in complexity over time, and appropriately encouraging me to challenge myself in ways I never would have on my own. I can’t say I have learned to “love the burn” I feel in my muscles during a workout, but, I can say, with Ira’s guidance, I have learned how to push through it because I know the pain is momentary but the gains are long lasting.

It’s hard for me to put into words how much I appreciate Ira and the team at Pro-Fit!  I started working out with Ira in January of 2013.  I was extremely overweight and knew that I needed someone to guide me and hold me accountable if I had any chance of being successful in my weight loss journey.  From the moment I walked into Pro-Fit, I felt right at home.  Ira put me at ease and everyone there was so friendly.  The trainers and clients have been so supportive and become a second family to me! 


Ira has been instrumental in helping me with my nutrition and fitness goals.  He believed in me when I told him I wanted to lose 100lbs in just 10 months and through a LOT of hard work, I was able to achieve that goal.  After my heel surgery, Ira helped me throughout my recovery and now I can run when I couldn’t even walk six months ago.  I still have a long way to go, but Ira continues to push me and keep me motivated.

I started at Pro-Fit in July 2013.  I received 4 sessions from my son for Mother's day, it took almost 2 months before I finally agreed to come in for a consultation and fully intended to only use the 4 sessions and do the rest on my own.  I quickly realized that was not going to happen.  I have been working out with Ira Baldwin for 13 months now and have lost 55 pounds.  I feel so much better, not only have I had to go out and buy new clothes but I feel so much better about myself and my health.  It is truly worth the investment and has changed my life.  I have a long way to go still but taking it one day at a time.

I started at Pro-Fit over a year ago, shortly after switching jobs. I was going through a fairly significant transition period, so I thought: why not start working out again and do something for MYSELF, for a change? I was a competitive athlete into my college years and have a naturally slim build, so my main goal was not weight loss, but rather to get back the athletic physique I had growing up. Mitch is my primary trainer, but I’ve had more than enough sessions with Ira to say they can both come up with a pretty gnarly work out.


With Mitch’s encouragement (and Ira’s, too), I have accomplished far more than I could have on my own, and I have some awesomely toned arms to show for it. Mitch is a skilled trainer who knows when enough is enough or when I have more left to give. He is also great at modifying my work outs when I’m muddling through various aches and pains, or when my mind is everywhere but the gym.


Great trainers aside, my favorite part about Pro-Fit is the encouraging, family environment Ira and Steve have cultivated. When you walk in, you’re greeted by everyone in the place—it’s like walking into the bar “Cheers” except everyone is sweaty and giving it their all. In spite of the clients’ varied fitness goals, we have bonded over our shared commitment to making ourselves healthier individuals, and we share in the celebration when milestones are achieved.


At the end of the day, I know it’s been a good work out when I walk out the door stinky, happy and too tired to talk, all thanks to my Pro-Fit friends!

"10 months ago I came across two women's stories, very similar to mine, via social media, only these women had more in common than just their weight loss, they both belonged to the same personal training gym.  One of the women happened to be a friend of mine, and after ALOT of encouragement, I set an appointment to meet with Steve to discuss my goals, and before I knew it, I had a session scheduled with Ira to give this personal training thing a whirl.... BEST.DECISION.EVER!! I started out once a week with Ira, and after seeing some great progress a couple of months in, started seeing Ira twice a week.  I am now 10 months into working out with Ira, and am down 75 pounds.  


My weight loss journey is still in progress, but without my trainer I am not so sure I would have made it this far.  I am no easy client by any means, but Ira helps keep me accountable, and often has to remind me of what my goals are, and what I need to do to achieve them, he believes in me when I don't believe in myself, he teaches me to push myself out of my comfort zone and fight through the pain, all while keeping my eye on the prize.... A healthier, thinner, ME!  Working out in the gym was just half the battle though, he also taught me the importance of eating a healthy clean diet, a diet that will help fuel my body so that it will give me the results I want in and out of the gym.  I have also since made some great friends at Pro-Fit, friends that each have their own story to tell, and together it's an all-around great group of people, clients and trainers, who help encourage each other to be the best they can be.

Brendan is an awesome coach and trainer! He has just the right amount of cheerleader and dictator that keeps me motivated.  I look forward to each session.
